Worship Intern /Director
Surrey Christian Life Assembly
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Worship Director at SCLA will start as a full-time summer internship and, at the discretion of senior leadership, may continue into the fall as a part-time ongoing role on the order of 8-10 hours a week.
This summer position is offered through Canada Summer Jobs. To qualify, applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be between the ages of 15 to 30.
We are looking for a gifted and charismatic musician, singer, and technical lead to oversee the worship ministry at SCLA. Our current worship ministry is functional and engaging, but we are looking for some youthful creativity to bring us to the next level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Worship Ministry
A. Lead worship two Sundays per month.
B. Be a part of the worship team every week (as a vocalist, instrumentalist, or member of the tech team).
C. Participate in the planning of weekly worship services.
D. Recruiting and training new volunteers to the worship ministry.
E. Maintain Planning Center Online song database.
F. Look for ways to improve and polish the worship experience on Sunday mornings.
II. Other Ministry Duties
A. Participate in staff meetings and events as required.
B. Preaching or other pastoral duties if/as the need arises.
III. Summer Only
A. SCLA has a sister organization, Metro Kids Society. You will be asked to participate in events for Children, Preteens, and Youth over the summer months.
REQUISITE SKILLSET
1. Able to lead worship alone.
2. Comfortable in front of a mixing console with a good understanding of how to create a nice audio mix.
3. Able to assess and understand new concepts and technologies quickly.
4. A proactive, firm, gentle, and open communicator.
5. A good sense of aesthetics.
6. Familiarity with any/all of the following technologies used to run our services would be useful.
a. Windows, MacOS, Behringer XR18, Faithlife Proclaim, Planning Center Services, OBS, YouTube.
7. The ability to troubleshoot in realtime without losing your head.
