Swarthmore College The Department of Educational Studies at Swarthmore College invites applications for a one-year, part-time (0.4 FTE) appointment as the School Liaison and Outreach Coordinator beg... inning in Fall 2023. This position supports the department in coordinating outreach and initiatives between the department and area schools, districts, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Primary responsibilities include 1) organizing and facilitating field placements for Educational Studies courses (about 100 students/semester) and supervision for those placements that require supervision; 2) coordinating student teaching placements; 3) supporting the department in meeting PA state educational regulations; and 4) working with our Teachers as Scholars program.
The strongest candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity-centered teaching and learning that promotes collaboration across contexts and motivates undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.

Responsible for teaching assigned modules during the camp. Teaching duties may include Immersive Media, digital Innovations, Smart solutions, and Artificial Intelligence + Robotics
Follow the Camp Curriculum developed by Arizona State University
Supplement Camp Curriculum with STEM-focused activities using resources and experiences available on campus
All information to be introduced in a Discovery learning format, emphasizing hands-on learning
Prepares technology, activities, and space for student’s use Chaperone off-campus field trips
Facilitates class discussion.
Supervises students during transitions
Maintain classroom management
Monitors care of equipment
Participate in staff orientation and one Open House (Fall or Spring).
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have interpersonal skills, and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
Must be able to manage a middle school classroom
Must have knowledge of CoSpaces, TinkerCAD, Micro:bits, or Sphero
Must be able to make decisions supporting the camp’s mission and goals.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on student needs, time, and resources.
Must be able to work collaboratively
Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written.
Must have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, Science, Technology or related disciplines
Preference will be given to certified middle school, high school, or STEM teachers
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience teaching middle school students
Familiarity with CoSpaces, TinkerCAD, Micro:bits, or Sphero
