Typical day to day tasks for a data scientist might include:

The research will focus on condition monitoring of assets for nuclear power plants, including developing diagnostic and prognostic capabilities that would provide an automated capacity to directly identify equipment condition from the signature of the initial warning. This would support analysis of long-term component behavior, related risk, and remaining useful life. It would further provide verification of asset condition as evidence of design qualification and economic viability. This research project will allow integration of asset health information into the overall digital information architecture, providing needed information to other plant activities. The successful candidate would be working with a team of dynamic researchers on prognostic and health management research in the nuclear industry. The successful candidate is expected to have independent problem-solving, mentoring, and leadership skills that would enable them to take their own research path and take ownership of projects.
