Associate Professor of Law and Assistant Professor of Computing & Data Sciences

The School of Law (LAW) and the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS) at Boston University together seek a junior lateral or entry-level, tenure-track scholar. The focus of the search is on various aspects of accountability, transparency, fairness, and equity in algorithmic or data-driven decision systems used in judicial/law enforcement settings, with a particular interest in areas focusing on racial justice or the consideration of race in the definition and evaluation of equitable machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

We seek candidates who have a potential for high scholarly achievement, teaching excellence, and service; a demonstrated record of inclusion; and a capacity to serve as an effective mentor for students. We are eager to hear from applicants from underrepresented groups and those who support our institutional commitment to BU as an inclusive, diverse, and equitable community. Assistant Professor of Computing & Data Sciences

The Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS) at Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, starting Fall 2022. One of seven active searches by CDS, the focus of this particular search is on basic, applied, and empirical research examining socio-technical and human-in-the-loop machine learning and AI systems operating within the context of legal, societal, economic, and public policy frameworks, including consideration of transparency, fairness, privacy, security, verifiability, and trust of data and software systems as they relate to concepts of autonomy, consent, governance, liability, and ethics. Qualifications required of all applicants include a PhD in any of the disciplines that span computing and data science; a strong record of research; a demonstrated capacity for interdisciplinary collaboration; and a commitment to innovative teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Stanford Postdoctoral Fellowship In Machine Learning And Public Policy

Professors Daniel Ho and Jacob Goldin invite applications for a postdoctoral scholar focused on the intersection of machine learning, statistics, and public policy. The work would focus on a high-impact collaboration with the Internal Revenue Service to build a more effective and equitable tax system. This is a 2-year position, with the potential of renewal. We are searching for outstanding individuals with strong research backgrounds. Assistant Professor of Environmental Policy

The Department of Environmental Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a faculty position in environmental policy at the assistant professor level.

We seek a scholar with expertise in environmental policy with a U.S. focus that supports existing and emerging areas of excellence in the department, including U.S. law and policy surrounding conservation; climate change; coastal sustainability; environmental justice; renewable energy; sustainable agriculture; and water supply, quality and rights. The selected candidate will have demonstrated expertise in deploying qualitative and/or quantitative social science methods appropriate to their discipline and research agenda. The faculty member will teach across the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including undergraduate courses in environmental policy, economics, and/or law, and a graduate core course in environmental policy, that is cross-listed with the Coastal Science and Policy program (CSP) for Master’s and Ph.D. students (ENVS 240/CSP 242).
