Survey Technician III
Washington County

Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation is recruiting for a Survey Technician III in the Civil Survey and Public Land Corner Section of the Surveyor's Office. The primary duties may include surveying and administering public rights-of-way, retracing and resolving county road rights-of-way, providing survey support on Capital Projects, monumenting and maintaining PLSS Corners, and drafting Records of Survey and PLSS U.S.B.T. Entries.

Ideal Candidate
The Survey Technician III is the advanced journey level class in the Survey Technician series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, including retracing County Road rights-of-way, drafting records of survey, and/or supervising individual survey crews performing construction, boundary, or cadastral surveying.


Oregon Tech
The Geomatics Department (Klamath Falls campus) is seeking applications for an academic full-time, renewable Geomatics faculty Instructor position. The Geomatics Department is part of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Management at Oregon Tech. This is the oldest BS Surveying program in the nation, with 70 years of continuous ABET (formerly ECPD) accreditation. The primary duty for this position is the instruction of our departmental Geomatics courses. Geomatics is a student-centric department. Faculty are responsible for teaching both their classes and any associated labs. This dynamic learning environment is one aspect that attracts students to our programs. Performs professional office and field land surveying activities requiring the application of surveying principles and practices for Public Works road, bridge, and capitol projects. Duties involve professional and technical complex work in preparing and reviewing surveys, plats, section subdivisions, right-of-way plans, and property descriptions for parcel boundaries, right- of-ways, road vacations, easements, annexations, and other county projects.

Work assignments are received with general and limited technical instruction and require considerable independence in the selection of courses of action and resolution of complex or unique problems within the framework of accepted surveying and departmental policies, procedures and applicable regulations. Work is reviewed by the County Surveyor for effective management through conferences, reports, and successful project completion.
Candidates that meet requirements for E2 may directly be hired in an E2 position.
