Assist Division Directors in strategic planning and sustainability as it relates to assigned projects. Oversee implementation of core division project-based learning initiatives including CASE Debates, All-Earth Ecobot Challenge and the Kids’ Day Series. Major Gifts Officer
Theatre Under The Stars JOB PURPOSE The Major Gifts Officer works closely with the Director of Development for the strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan for the moves management of current donors and prospects. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for a portfolio of individual major donors and prospects with focus on annual gifts of $5,000 to $15,000 and above. Serves alongside a Development team charged with raising in excess of $6 million annually to support the Annual Fund, Special Events, and the Capital Campaign.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Using the Plans Module in Tessitura, develop an annual solicitation plan for a targeted portfolio (125-150 households) of donors. • Cultivate, solicit and steward relationships within your focused portfolio of existing major donors. • Participate in the screening process of major donor prospects and engage these select leads to identify, qualify and cultivate new major donors. • Advance current and prospective donor relationships through personal contact including but not limited to: o Breakfasts, lunches, dinners, one-on-one donor meetings, etc. o Pre-show and post-show social hours o Regular contact via calls, emails, letters, notes, etc. • Attend the annual Gala and participate in executing duties as assigned/requested from the Special Events staff and contracted vendors. • Attend all major stewardship events and receptions as relevant to your active and prospect portfolios. • Serve as senior development staff on duty while in-show. • Participate in developing fundraising strategy, as requested and directed by leadership. • Attend meetings of the Board of Directors as needed. • Manage budget for areas of responsibilities. • Complete all associated administrative duties such as tracking of activity in Tessitura; creation of meeting plans; regular communication with supervisor. • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor and Executive Director.
Government Grant Writer
Houston Food Bank POSITION PURPOSE The Government Grant Writer (GGW) will join a growing team of 25+ dedicated, collaborative, values-driven, and effective development professionals who are passionate about securing financial resources to advance Houston Food Bank’s mission of Food for Better Lives. The GGW is responsible for preparing government grant proposals and applications for Houston Food Bank as well as identifying new opportunities and prospects. Initial focus will be working on projects to secure American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds at various levels—local, regional, state, and national but scope includes other government funding and similar prospects and opportunities. The GGW will work with various departments to prepare and compile materials for grant applications and will coordinate with appropriate teams to manage reporting as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES • Generate and submit proposals and supporting documents/language in response to government and some other similar projects or opportunities • Research and identify government funding opportunities in close coordination with Government Relations Officer • Coordinate pre-award and post-award activities o Coordinate interdepartmental cooperation on grant implementation o Coordinate grant close-out, report, evaluation, and audit requirements with Grants Compliance team • Participate in various grant meetings as needed • Support with funding projections and prospects during the annual budget process • Enter proposals and actions into Quorum, or other database, and run basic queries and reports • Maintain calendar to ensure timely submission of proposals, reports, and/or letters of intent • Enter awarded proposals, deadlines, documentation and necessary actions into Asana or other tracking tool • Track and report monthly metrics • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned o Assist Grants Team in other capacities as needed o Ensure that work area is clean, secured, and well maintai
