Plug In America is seeking an experienced hands-on Communications Director who will be responsible for all aspects of Plug In America’s communications. The Communications Director takes the lead in shaping Plug In America’s voice and maintaining our brand integrity.
The Communications Director reports to Plug In America’s Executive Director and supervises a Communications Associate.
The Communications Director oversees and manages a wide range of communication activities including:
Digital marketing/social media (both paid and organic). Press relations, including drafting and promoting releases, managing incoming inquiries, and maintaining relationships with journalists. All aspects of social media. Action alerts for our email list and other emails. Maintaining and growing our contact database by engaging and supporting our members. Producing a biweekly electronic newsletter. Overseeing Plug In America’s websites: pluginamerica.org,driveelectricweek.org, driveelectricearthday.org. Developing video materials and overseeing video productions. Keeping the Plug In America staff informed of electric vehicle industry trends and developments. Other communication channels.
Plug In America Plug In America is seeking a Policy Director to lead the policy program and drive forward our mission to put more EVs on the road. This is a unique opportunity for the right indiv... idual to have a powerful impact on the development of electric transportation in the United States.
The Policy Director represents the voice of the EV consumer at the federal level, working with Congress, the White House and various agencies, and also at the state level with policymakers in state legislatures and in governor’s offices, and with regulators at entities including state transportation offices, state public utility commissions, state air boards, and more. Tasks include: • Educating policymakers on various EV policy issues critical to the EV driver; EV purchase incentives, EV infrastructure, utility programs, HOV lane access policies, EV fees, ZEV mandate, clean fuels and more; • Strategizing with Board members and other EV policy advocates; • Providing public testimony during legislative hearings or regulatory proceedings; • Coordinating diverse sets of key stakeholders to move EV policy through forums, campaigns, coalitions and other mechanisms; • Writing reports, factsheets, whitepapers, blog posts and op-eds on EV policy issues; • Writing action alerts on various policy issues; Coordination with Communications Director on press releases • Management of other policy staff and interns.
Desired Qualifications: • 5-7 years of experience with EV or transportation policy or equivalent; • Master’s degree; • Work experience in a legislative office; • Superlative communications skills, including speaking to media and writing for publication; • Ability to work well in a team setting • Ability to think strategically and coordinate campaigns with grassroots networks; • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before the start of work;

Becoming a trusted partner to Kaluza’s product and engineering teams and driving the development of an effective Partnerships strategy. Negotiating and implementing agreements that will benefit Kaluza and its partners while speeding up the electrification of transport.
