Online, Digital and Social Media Technician

This position’s goal is to enhance the current digital, online and social media presence which aligns with the vision of the Central Okanagan United Church faith community.
Responsibilities and duties-
• Enhance/streamline production and co-ordination of the weekly online and streamed worship services and other broadcasts as requested.
• Advise on current sound equipment and possible replacement.
• Provide technical support for livestream and worship each Sunday.
• Provide technical support for other church activities and venue renters.
• Assist in development and training of volunteers within the congregation to support this ministry.
• Communicate regularly with the ministry team.
Miscellaneous-
• Meet regularly with the Worship Core Ministry as requested.
• Attend Ministry and Personnel Core Ministry meetings as requested.
Required skills-
• Proficiency with live streaming production.
• Skill in working with sound equipment and other production equipment as regards live streaming and social media.
• Ability to work co-operatively as a team member, and to communicate effectively with staff and congregation members.
• Ability to work independently and self-manage.
• Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
• Mandatory current Criminal Record Check.

Music Director

Children Youth and Families Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Under the guidance, direction and supervision of the Coordinating Minister, plan,
implement, promote and provide ongoing management for a comprehensive,
effective and inspired ministry program with Children, Youth and Families.
Including but not limited to:
o Comprehensive faith formation and community building opportunities for
children and youth where children and youth take an active, participatory
and leadership role in worship and congregational life.
o Seasonal events and activities that coincide with worship, community
celebrations, outreach projects and initiatives, etc.
o Recruit and support volunteers to assist and lead in CYF programming.
o Direct and carry out such specific programs for Children, Youth and/or
Families as Pacific Spirit United Church may decide.
● In consultation with the Coordinating Minister and the Children Youth and Families
Committee, participate in the preparation of an annual budget proposal for CYF staff
and programs.
● Prepare and participate in direct leadership with children and youth as needed.
● Provide opportunities for children and youth to connect with the wider church
beyond the congregational context. For example: Children’s Retreat, Evolve, Children
and Youth at Region Meetings, and Camp Spirit.
● Provide emotional support for children, youth and families as needed, under the
guidance of the ministry team.
● In consultation with the Ministry and Personnel Committee plan, implement and
manage Duty of Care requirements to ensure the safety of all children, youth and
leaders. (Criminal Records Check, Food Safe, reference checks and personal vetting
of all CYF staff and volunteers working with children on an on-going basis.)
● Participate in worship as requested by the Coordinating Minister.

Purpose:
The Weird Church Youth Leader will help Weird Church offer loving spiritual community and growth in the Comox Valley, specifically Cumberland. This position includes a focus on child and youth engagement and spiritual connection to those in the elementary/high school age group by means of innovative opportunities for young people to engage in safe, welcoming, fully inclusive spiritual community.
Hours and Conditions:
This contract is 30 hours per month with a wage range from $22-28/hr depending on experience and education. Preparation for activities may happen in the church building and/or from home.
Additional hours may be available for administrative tasks beyond youth programming for qualified and interested individuals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Hours will include (but are not limited to) planning, preparation and execution of:
Once per month Pro-D Day Camp in Cumberland (including volunteer/community engagement pieces)
1-3 Sundays per month of Youth Leadership during Sunday Services at Weird Church (Services run 4 - 5:15pm)
One other activity planned per month as planned in coordination with the Weird Church Minister and Leadership Team (for example: a weekly after school yoga and meditation class, out trip to Comox Lake, etc. dependent on skills and experience)
