Developer/Software Engineer in with the Infectious Disease Dynamics group at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; COVID-19, influenza, and emerging infections
Johns Hopkins University
We are seeking an experienced Developer/Software Engineer to join the Johns Hopkins University Infectious Disease Dynamics Group (http://www.iddynamics.jhsph.edu) to contribute to efforts that are part of the Center for Accelerating Modeling Utilization and Synthesis (CAMUS), a new CDC-funded project to build sustained capacity and implement modeling of infectious diseases. We are seeking a motivated candidate to expand our capacities in software development, computing efficiency, and web development. The successful candidate will work with a team of infectious disease epidemiologist, modelers, and computer scientists, contributing to multiple research, applied modeling, and training workstreams aimed at expanding and sustaining capacities in infectious disease modeling, application, and communication.

CAMUS is intended to meet the critical need to establish permanent centers of expertise in applied infectious disease modeling, to maintain and expand on advances made during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to advance training programs for modelers and public health professionals, before the next pandemic. To accomplish this, this project is focused on two overarching objectives: (1) accelerating the applied use of modeling in public health, and (2) developing a workforce capable of implementing these techniques, interpreting the results, and communicating them with the public health community and public. As part of this project, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a broad team across Johns Hopkins University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Research Program Manager
Johns Hopkins University
We are seeking to hire a Research Program Manager to help oversee a large CDC-funded project to build capacity and implement modeling of infectious diseases in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. This program is intended to meet the critical need to establish permanent centers of expertise in applied infectious disease modeling and to advance training programs for modelers, before the next pandemic. To accomplish this, this project is focused on two overarching objectives: (1) accelerating the applied use of modeling in public health, and (2) developing a workforce capable of implementing these techniques, interpreting the results, and communicating them with the public health community and public.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management of large-scale research, scientific, medical, or academic projects or programs. The candidate must be highly organized and comfortable working with project staff meet deliverables and interfacing between multiple project leads and institutions. Experience in disease modeling or epidemiology is not required, though may be a benefit. Candidates with experience in product development are encouraged to apply.
Postdoc in Modeling of Infectious Disease Dynamics at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; COVID-19, influenza, and emerging infections
Johns Hopkins University
We are seeking multiple postdoctoral researcher to join the Johns Hopkins University Infectious Disease Dynamics Group (http://www.iddynamics.jhsph.edu) and Justin Lessler's group in the UNC Department of Epidemiology to contribute to efforts part of the Center for Accelerating Modeling Utilization and Synthesis (CAMUS), a new CDC-funded project to build sustained capacity and implement modeling of infectious diseases. We are seeking a motivated PhD-level scientist to contribute to multiple research, applied modeling, and training workstreams aimed at expanding and sustaining capacities in infectious disease modeling, application, and communication.

CAMUS is intended to meet the critical need to establish permanent centers of expertise in applied infectious disease modeling, to maintain and expand on advances made during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to advance training programs for modelers and public health professionals, before the next pandemic. Postdoctoral Research Associate
University of West Florida
We have multiple positions in Computer Science with a research focus on simulations, big data analytics, and cyber-infrastructure development for public health policy applications. The research is supported by multiple grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. There is scope for teaching one or two courses a year. Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, such as computational sciences or engineering, by the start date of the appointment. The ideal candidates will have strong programming skills and expertise in one or more of the following: high performance computing, machine learning, big data analytics, and mathematical modeling.

Post Doctoral Scientist, Computational Biology
George Washington University
The Computational Biology Institute (cbi.gwu.edu) at George Washington University in Washington, DC is searching for a Post Doctoral Scientist. We are looking for highly motivated candidates interested in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Omics Data Science, to investigate molecular dynamics of infectious diseases in general and COVID-19 in particular. The successful candidate will work closely with Professors Rahnavard (https://www.rahnavard.org/) and Crandall of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Milken Institute School of Public Health (https://publichealth.gwu.edu/departments/biostatistics-and-bioinformatics). The candidate will have an appointment at the Computational Biology Institute, the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.

We use machine learning and statistical approaches on omics data (e.g., microbial genes, viral genome, metabolites, and proteins) from high-throughput technologies to characterize biological processes underlying disease activities. These measured omics features provide snapshots of human biology and together can provide a comprehensive picture explaining biological processes underlying disease activities.

Responsibilities Include:

Develop his/her own line of research on novel computational approaches in multi-omics of Infectious diseases, taking advantage of rapidly increasing multi-omics datasets in COVID-19.
Lead projects, train, assist and supervise students (graduate and undergraduate level) and fellows in bioinformatic analyses
Write manuscripts and present results and findings in meetings and conferences
Research projects are involved but are not limited to biomarker discovery
Develop novel computational strategies to identify biologically important functional pathways
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
