Clinical Psychologist- Adolescent Substance Use & Prevention Program

Northwestern University & Lurie Children’s are seeking a clinical psychologist to join a multidisciplinary team. Duties are primarily to:

1) conduct screenings and outpatient diagnostic evaluations of adolescents and young adults who experience problems with substance use;

2) provide psychological treatment of adolescents and young adults with substance use disorders and their families;

3) consult to parents, schools and medical/surgical staff;

4) teach in multidisciplinary child health, mental health, and adolescent medicine education and training programs; and

5) conduct research related to adolescent and young adult substance use disorders. 

Clinical and/or research experience with adolescents and young adults with substance use problems is required. A PhD in clinical psychology and APA-approved internship are required, with at least one year of supervised experience with children and adolescents preferred. This position comes with 50% protected research time for the first 3 years of appointment. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop a program of research related to adolescent and young adult substance use disorders supported by external funding sources following the initial research support period.

This full time position in the Child Behavioral Health Department will involve collaboration with the multi-disciplinary Adolescent Medicine Eating Disorders Clinic at Baystate Children’s Hospital. In addition to the primary responsibility of outpatient assessment and treatment of eating disorders, the position will include inpatient consultation and liaison work as well as program development related to the eating disorders program. Experience providing evidence-based treatment to children and adolescents is required. The primary treatment modality is Family Based Treatment, but a range of therapeutic approaches may be used.

Additional responsibilities will include participation in teaching opportunities including potential supervision of graduate practicum students as well as teaching medical students and/or psychiatry residents. This position offers the opportunity for a voluntary academic appointment with UMass Medical School-Baystate.

Requirements include: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with doctoral level knowledge in the treatment of eating disorders and training in developmental stages, child and adolescent mental health diagnoses, current treatment modalities, and therapeutic processes.

Adolescent medicine physician

CHOC Children’s is looking to hire a full time adolescent medicine specialist to be a part of a growing program embedded in a large pediatric health system in an urban/suburban area of beautiful Southern California. The position is largely comprised of clinical responsibilities which include outpatient primary and specialty care services for patients ages 13-21 for Medicaid as well as other major insurances. Outpatient specialty care services include eating disorder treatment with a multidisciplinary team, reproductive health, mental health, and LGBT health. In addition to outpatient services, adolescent specialist will provide inpatient consultation in-person and via telehealth primarily for eating disorder medical re-stabilization. The ideal candidate should have a doctoral degree in any relevant discipline, a well-established record of scholarship, teaching and extramurally funded research; demonstrated commitment to improving adolescent health through community collaborative research; strong capacity for multidisciplinary collaboration; and documented productive relationships with university and community partners, program planners and policy makers. An MD or DO, candidate should be Board Certified in General Pediatrics, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, and ideally would be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Adolescent Medicine.
