The psychologist will be joining our Adolescent Health team to provide evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of adolescents identified with mental health concerns and/or positive mental health screens in our Adolescent Gynecology and Specialty Practice. Adolescent Center Physician Opening

The Department of Pediatrics of Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Adolescent Medicine physician to join the Adolescent Center within the Division of Pediatric Primary Care. This faculty member will provide outpatient primary and subspecialty adolescent care to adolescents, both to those who receive primary care at Boston Medical Center and those referred from neighboring community health centers and practices across MA. Successful applicants will be joining an interdisciplinary team of adolescent medicine fellowship-trained physicians, providers with strong adolescent medicine expertise, adolescent medicine nurses, medical assistants, social workers, a family planning counselor, a patient navigator, and a practice coordinator. In addition to primary care practice, the Adolescent Center houses an expanding gender care program, a menstrual disorders program, an adolescent addiction program, a teen-tot program, and an adolescent prenatal program. BMC Adolescent Medicine specializes in accessible family planning care and receives Title X funding to provide free, onsite birth control. The Adolescent Center provides same day contraception for all birth control methods, including LARC methods, integrated into primary and subspecialty care.
In addition to providing clinical care, Adolescent Center faculty members are closely involved in teaching medical students at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and pediatric residents at the Boston Combined Residency Program (BMC/Boston Childrens Hospital). The Department of Pediatrics also offers qualified applicants opportunities to participate in quality improvement work and collaborate on clinical research projects. The incumbent will have the opportunity to build new areas in clinical services and/or research programs according to their specific interests and expertise, with administrative time allotted. These include but not necessarily limited to reproductive health care, transgender care, and substance abuse. This position includes creative work in the incumbent's interest area that will lead to academic promotion. Our current research teams in our division focus on reproductive health care, sexually transmitted diseases, vaginal microbiome and inflammation, and eating disorders. Our department also includes a robust health services research group with emphasis on delivery of care, racial justice, health care disparities, immigrant health, school education, and multi-systems approaches to health care.
The incumbent will have an important role in medical education for Adolescent Medicine fellows, residents (from pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, family medicine, and internal medicine) and medical students.
