Lab of Dr. Alexey Kamenskiy is looking for Ph.D. students with interests in computational and constitutive modeling of biological tissues, biomedical engineering, vascular mechanobiology, biomaterials, and vascular devices. We can offer hands-on experience working with human tissues and large animal models in a collaborative environment that involves clinicians and engineers.
Postdoctoral Associate in Mechanobiology
University of Pittsburgh
A postdoctoral position is currently available at the Soft Tissue Biomechanics Laboratory (STBL) in the Department of Bioengineering under the direction of Professor Jonathan Vande Geest (www.stblvandegeest.com). The STBL is currently developing a novel platform to study the mechanobiology of the optic nerve head in primary open angle glaucoma that seamlessly integrates state of the art techniques in regenerative medicine, 3D bioprinting, and intravital imaging.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Bioengineering or Cell Biology or related field. A strong background in biology is preferred, including experience with cell and molecular biology quantitative assay development and optimization. Candidates will also be considered who have a strong computational/mathematical background with experience in mechanistic modeling of extracellular matrix remodeling. This will remain open until filled.

Interested applicants should submit a CV, statement of research interest and purpose, Unofficial copy of full UG and Grad transcripts, and the contact information for three references to: Prof. Jonathan P. Vande Geest (jpv20@pitt.edu) using the subject line “STBL Postdoctoral Position Application”

The Department of Bioengineering is strongly committed to a diverse academic environment and places high priority on attracting female and underrepresented minority candidates. We strongly encourage candidates from these groups to apply for the position. The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/ Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity and diversity. EOE, including disability/vets.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW IN CARDIAC MECHANICS
University of Texas at Austin
Applications are invited for Post-doctoral Fellow in the James T. Willerson Center for Cardiovascular Modeling and Simulation in the area of cardiac mechanics computational models that incorporate Mitral Valve function using imaged based data sources.

Project:
A major thrust at the WCCMS is the development of computational models of heart biomechanics for image-based patient-specific analysis and diagnosis. Thanks to new funding from the NIH, we are now embarking on novel integrated models of the left ventricle and mitral valve directly from human 3D echo data. This model will utilize our novel high-fidelity mitral valve and left ventricular models to create a completely patent specific model of this LV/MV as an integrated functional unit. Integrated growth and remodeling models will also be utilized for predictive simulations. Modeling efforts will be built within the new FeNiCSX open source package with plans for customization of the DolfinX unified form language compiler, along with extensions to machine learning modeling. The WCCMS has a long rich history of post-doctoral training, with ample opportunity for fellowship and NIH funding as a pathway to independence. The project will involve working with the long-standing collaborators at the University of Pennsylvania and regional collaborators at the Dell Medical School and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. The WCCMS is housed in the world class Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences which as access to state of the are supercomputer facilities at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). Multi-axial testing facilities are also available in wet lab facilities are also available thru WCCMS facilities at WCCMS in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
