Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with IDT to identify patient/fa... mily needs for music therapy and accept referrals. Provide music therapy and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record. Develop treatment plans addressing cognitive, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and care partners. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and educational programs. Provide bereavement support and attend memorial services as needed. Educate staff, patients, and the community about the role of music therapy. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy or related field; 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Credentialed as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) preferred, or eligible to sit for the exam within the first year of employment. Proficient in music performance and creating a therapeutic environment. Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance (for field-based positions). Pediatric Music Therapist (Full Time)
Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children’s Provides direct services for patients and families by using music as a tool to help them attain and maintain their maximum levels of functioning in the areas of physical, cognitiv... e, communication, spiritual, social, and emotional health. Program planning will be designed to reduce stress, increase adaptive coping, provide normalization, promote social interaction, and support developmental integrity.
Education: Minimum completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA (American Music Therapy Association) approved program.
Certification: Must be board certified (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists. Preferred if applicant has or is capable of obtaining NICU-MT.
Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Music Therapist in a healthcare setting preferred. Any experience as a Music Therapist in the NICU setting preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Ability to develop therapeutic rapport with hospitalized patients of all ages, families, and staff to cope with hospitalization; Excellent communication skills and flexibility are highly desired.
