Postdoctoral Fellow - Immuno-Metabolism
McMaster University
The David Braley Research Institute (affiliated with McMaster University) has an immediate opening for a full-time, experienced Postdoctoral Fellow in Immuno-Metabolism in the lab... oratory of Dr. Marc Jeschke – Professor of Surgery, Vice President of Research at Hamilton Health Sciences.

We focus on translational research to attenuate burn-induced hypermetabolism, inflammation, and sepsis. We have recently shown that the adipose tissue plays a major role in hypermetabolism, which has been associated with adverse clinical outcomes.

The goals of our research are to develop novel treatments and interventions to attenuate the browning response and potentially implement novel clinical treatments.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, highly motivated, organized individual who will enjoy collaborating as part of a team conducting research to study the effects of burn on the adipose and its mediators.

Skills and Qualifications:
• PhD in Cell Biology or Metabolism, with a strong background in lipid and adipose tissue research
• Experience in some or all of the following techniques: flow cytometry with multi-color panel design for immune cell profiling & sorting, assessments of immune cell function and immunometabolism, biochemical techniques, primary cell culture, rodent models, molecular biology techniques (real-time gene expression, etc.), tissue processing, imaging (e.g. confocal microscopy)
• Experience in study design, execution, and interpretation of mitochondrial respiration measurement and stress tests
• Experience in study design and result interpretation for metabolomics, proteomics, and snRNA-seq
• Proven track record of publications in high-quality journals required (minimum of 5 publications)

The fellowship is for two years. The salary is $50,000 CAD/year, with benefits.

How To Apply:
Qualified candidates are invited to submit a cover letter and CV to Dr. Marc Jeschke at jeschke@HHSC.CA (with “Postdoctoral Fellow – Metabolism” in the subject line).
