Potential GCE research paths include open pit slope and underground mine design and stability, rock mass characterization, geotechnical data analysis and implementation, emerging monitoring technologies, and numerical and limit-equilibrium modeling. In addition to research, a core part of the GCE’s mission is to deliver trained graduates to the field of geotechnical engineering and fill existing knowledge gaps in the sector. The selected candidate will work closely with our existing team to lead and support the GCE’s research efforts, as well as the development and presentation of content for both academic and professional development courses.

This position will work with Canary client support personnel, engineering, and manufac... turing to configure, deliver, and support standard products and custom electronic monitoring solutions for our customers. This position will also be responsible for researching and documenting the integration of new electronic monitoring solutions with Canary System’s software platform.
Responsibilities Include: • Work closely with clients to understand their applications and evaluate components and technology options to provide design options • Design custom integrations including hardware, testing, panel design, and creation of drawings • Work with customers to install products and train, including creating operating documents • Install and use commercially available sensor devices, build relationships with support staff at key suppliers • Develop expertise in Canary Systems hardware and software products • Integrate new monitoring instrumentation with Canary Systems MLSuite software • Campbell Scientific CRBasic programming (training will be provided) • Travel to client sites to support deployed instrumentation solutions (15% typically)
Expertise Required: System design using sensors with voltage, current, resistance and common communications protocols (SDI-12, asynchronous serial, Ethernet) Debug electronic systems to find root cause using electrical tools such as DVMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers Protocol analysis tools such as WireShark RF communication hardware used in Wi-Fi and sub-Gig systems IP and standard protocols such as TCP and UDP Some background in programming using script languages, Python, or C Ability to develop internal scope of work documents and basic project budgets Bachelor's in engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, or equivalent experience Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Applications Engineering or Support position
