Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Advising, Science and Health Professions, will serve as an outreach coordinator, academic liaison, and career adviser for science and the health professions. Reporting to the Director of Health Professions Advising, the Assistant Director will drive efforts to engage students early in their college career in advising, workshops, and other avenues for career explorations. The Assistant Director will liaise with faculty from the Clark Science Center and partner with program to promote early engagement, particularly among historically underrepresented student populations. The Assistant Director will provide skilled individual and group advising for students and alums exploring careers in science and health professions, which will include career exploration, self-assessment, mock interviewing, and resume/cover letter/portfolio preparation.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will be an integrated member of the Lazarus Center for Career Development advising team and will be expected to participate in collaborative advising and career education endeavors. Finally, the Assistant Director will be an essential member of the committee-letter writing team and will write a proportion of the committee letters. They should have strong descriptive writing skills and be able to summarize an applicant's achievements and abilities with clarity and discernment. In addition to the job functions above, the Assistant Director will take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
