Postdoctoral Fellow
UNC-Chapel Hill A position for a Postdoctoral Fellow is open in the laboratory of Claire M. Doerschuk, MD, Marsico Lung Institute and the Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care at the U... niversity of North Carolina (UNC-Chapel Hill). The project involves study of inflammatory and innate immune mechanisms in response to pulmonary infections using both in vitro and in vivo systems, including mouse models of infection. The purpose of this position is to investigate the kinetics and function of neutrophils and macrophage subpopulations in developing and resolving pneumonia. One active focus is the expression and function of ICAM-1 on alveolar epithelial cells, endothelial cells and immune cells. Active studies also focus on neutrophil heterogeneity, both its regulation and function. In addition to bacterial and viral pneumonia, studying these processes in acute lung injury and in injury caused by inhalation of toxicants can also be a component of this position. The studies utilize molecular and cell biological technologies and in vivo experimentation, including single cell RNAseq/CITEseq, bulk RNA profiling and qPCR, cell culture, flow cytometry, mass cytometry, cell sorting, ELISAs, immunoblotting, murine experimentation, and histology, as well as translational science technologies and bioinformatics. Career development is also an important component of this position. Qualifications • Education: A PhD degree in Immunology, Pathology, Genetics, Cell and Molecular Physiology or similar discipline required and/or MD degree or equivalent. • Other: Experience in Immunology, Pathology, Genetics, Cell and Molecular Physiology or similar discipline is required. Also strongly recommended are 1) course work or knowledge in immunology (particularly inflammation and innate immunity), cell and molecular physiology, and/or pathology of disease, 2) experience and proficiency in some of the technologies described above, and 3) experience in mouse models of lung disease. Postdoctoral fellow
University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Elizabeth J. Kovacs, PhD in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. The ... laboratory works on multi-organ system inflammatory response and innate immunity in the context of trauma and infection. Recent studies have focused on the effects of alcohol intoxication, advanced age, sex differences and infection on the initiation and resolution of inflammation in both in vivo murine models and clinical samples.
The full-time post-doctoral position will support NIH-funded research projects. The trainee will be mentored by Dr. Kovacs and her staff and will work collaboratively with junior and senior investigators as well as research technicians. The post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work independently and propose studies that complement ongoing and expand upon projects in the lab.
**This position is funded by a T32 - Ruth L. Kirschstein Institutional National Research Service and Award grant, which requires that appointees be U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in a research or clinical doctoral or postdoctoral program.**

Assistant/ Associate Professor in Neuroscience
University of Central Florida The Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences (BSBS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF), College of
Medicine, seeks outstanding applicants for three research-focused faculty ... members. The rank of appointment
for these positions can be either tenure-earning Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor. The
research focus should be molecular and cellular neuroscience relevant to human health. Applicants with a research focus in any area of neuroinflammation or neuroimmunology such as development, degeneration, cancer, or infection are particularly encouraged to apply.
Successful applicants must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a discipline appropriate to the
Biomedical Sciences, have postdoctoral experience, and have a record of research productivity. In addition to developing or maintaining a well-funded research program, hired faculty will be expected to actively participate
in undergraduate and graduate education. Successful applicants for appointment at the tenured Associate Professor level upon hire require current extramural funding, with demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service. The UCF College of Medicine provides faculty with highly competitive State-supported salaries, generous startup packages, and laboratory space. The research facilities are state-of-the-art and include BSL3 laboratory space, transgenic animal facilities, and excellent core equipment.

Graduate research assistant
University of Kentucky The Owen lab is looking to recruit a graduate student to work on an NIH funded project investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms of skeletal muscle dysfunction after severe ... burn injury. We employ both preclinical models and clinical samples to elucidate the role of immunoregulatory mechanisms as potential pathological drivers of muscle fibrosis in survivors of burn injury, and whether immunomodulatory therapies may promote healthy muscle regeneration and improve strength.
If you or someone you know may be interested, please message or email and we can arrange a time to chat.
