ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer and interpret psychological tests and conduct psychological assessments of recruit school applicants, police communications operator applicants, promotional candidates, and other specialized jobs such as hostage negotiation, S.W.A.T. team, and undercover work.

Plan, develop, and implement training on various topics to facilitate the overall wellness and resilience of the department’s work force.

Provide confidential short-term treatment for agency employees and their families; referrals and follow-up evaluations on employees requiring additional psychological services from outside facilities; and provide other group intervention services.

Consult with various levels of agency management and/or workgroups regarding solutions to ongoing or anticipated problems, including but not limited to personnel conflicts and problematic behavior in the workplace; Coordinate fitness for duty evaluations when appropriate and/or ordered by the Director.

Conduct program design and develop procedures for pre-employment testing, wellness and behavioral health services for employees.

Other duties include but are not limited to assisting in critical incident response or conducting special projects and research as directed.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position to include additional hours or at times outside traditional office hours. Travel locally and within the state as needed to accomplish position objectives. Travel to more than one work location and overnight travel may be required.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Licensure and/or Certification – Possess and maintain licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a Psychologist. Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. If applicant has valid out of state licensure, licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a Psychologist must be obtained within three (3) months of start date.

We are seeking consulting psychologists with interest, experience and solid graduate level training in psychological assessment. Assessment programs are adults only and utilize objective personality assessment protocols (projective and complex neurocognitive assessments are not incorporated into assessment batteries). Occupational Health Assessments including public safety evaluations of police, corrections, fire, EMS personnel, among others. Role is largely conducting pre-employment psychological evaluations and training is provided in house by highly experienced psychologists thereby minimizing risk and liability as well. Role is a fantastic addendum to part time private practice work. Flexible schedule, yet work is usually during normal business hours with remote, teleassessment options available. Once trained, a psychologist can easily make over $100,000 per year working two days weekly!

DESCRIPTION: Altman Psychological Services, PLLC (APS), a growing forensic and police/public safety practice, invites applications for part-time or full-time psychologist, with previous assessment or forensic training. Psychologists will undergo training and work under the supervision of a Forensic and Police/Public Safety Psychologist. Successful psychologists will be self-motivated and work well independently.

Our goal is to provide consultation and opinions grounded in empirical research as psychological experts. Supervision will be offered to ensure psychologists are well-trained in this specialized area of practice. Work experiences with APS include various forensic and employment-related evaluations, including competence to stand trial, mental state at the time of the offense, violence risk, pre-employment for high-risk jobs (e.g., law enforcement, firefighters, etc.), critical incident debriefings, specialty placement assignments (e.g., SWAT, Covert, etc.), risk and threat assessment, and police/public safety and corporate fitness for duty evaluations.
