Adult Basic Ed Instructor

Responsibilities: The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor II at the Adult Learning Centers operated by MSU is responsible for instructing adult learners, maintaining student database on computer, conducting classes at outreach sites, entering and submitting data as required by the Kentucky Department of Adult Education. This position will work a balanced schedule between the Adult Learning Centers and learning sites in the counties operated by MSU.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required with two years of related experience. The incumbent must be proficient in the basic educational skills required to provide GED Test instruction (reading, math, language, social studies, and science), literacy, ACT/COMPASS instruction and transitions courses. Computer skills and excellent communication skills are also needed. Ability to provide flexibility and tolerance to diverse populations. Valid Kentucky driver’s license required.

Upload additional site content within the website backend environment

Duties include but are not limited to serving as an advisor for students in the SSS program, assisting with student data management, leading the planning and implementation of student engagement activities, creating and presenting student success workshops on various topics including financial literacy, time management, motivation, etc. Position requires the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty. Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and work efficiently and autonomously without constant supervision. Computer skills are required with an emphasis on spreadsheets and database management. Prefer experience in a program comparable to the operations of SSS including experience with Blumen data tracking system.
