Essential Responsibilities: As a Research Scientist - Metallurgy, you will: -Conduct research in an interdisciplinary team environment involving new alloy design, process optimization, property optimization, root cause analysis for processing and manufacturing improvements, and metallurgy-based service & repair work for a variety of metallic materials systems. -Share in the authorship of program proposals to external agencies and participate in the execution of government contracts. -Work across organizations, including interfacing with external agencies, GE businesses and universities on technical approach and execution. Share project progress internally and externally through oral presentations and written reports. -Foster a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment
Qualifications/Requirements: -PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science & Engineering, or BS degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science & Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of additional experience in a research environment. -Experience in the advanced characterization, processing and performance evaluation of structural alloys. -Desire and flexibility to contribute to projects across Metallurgy portfolio, including but not limited Al, Ti, Fe, Ni, Co, and Refractory based material systems. -Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.

- Working knowledge of quality systems (especially aerospace) and experience with problem solving, both for internal improvement and for external customer support preferred.
