Doctoral Student for Triggers for collaborative learning regulation
University of Oulu The project focuses on studying regulation in collaborative learning context. Regulation in learning is important because of an increased demand in specialized human skills and co... mpetences for tackling complex problems in groups and across globally distributed groups. Despite the widely acknowledged role of regulation in effective collaborative learning, little progress has been made to provide regulation support to the learners. We introduce a novel concept of trigger events, which are those challenging events that may inhibit collaboration and will, therefore, require regulation of cognition, motivation, and emotion within the group. The project will collect multimodal collaborative learning process data to understand and detect those “unobservable” trigger events in order to develop adaptive support (e.g. AI) and teacher interventions for better collaborative learning, on-line teams and hybrid education. Data collection will be at the LeaF research infrastructure (https://www.oulu.fi/leaf-eng/) with multiple data channels: background information, situated measures, 360 degrees video, audio, physiological measures, and stimulated recall interviews. In multidisciplinary collaboration we will plan the analytical methods and machine learning models for identifying patterns of cognition, motivation, and emotion regulation in collaborative learning and matching them to challenges in CL situations.
We are looking for a doctoral student in a relevant field, e.g. learning sciences, educational psychology, educational technology or computer science. We’re looking for someone who is interested in self- regulated learning, educational technology, multimodal data (e.g. physiological data, log data, eye tracking, event time-series, video and audio data), and analytics.

call for inviting a French professor to visit a Finnish university
Nokia & Finnish University The Nokia Foundation together with Institut Francais de Finlande have a call for inviting a French professor to visit a Finnish university. The funding is based on joint contribut... ion where the French university gives 20’000€ and the Nokia Foundation 20’000€ to fund the visit.
This is the second time the funding is available. On the first call, Professor Jean-Emmanuel Broquin visited the University of Eastern Finland.
TU Clausthal I know I'm a bit late to the party, but if anyone's interested to join the Energy Informatics lab at Technische Universität Clausthal as a PhD student or postdoc (remuneration acc... ording to the German TV-L E13 scheme, contract duration up to 5yrs) to support our ongoing research activities in the areas of wireless communications and embedded sensing for the sustainable operation of electrical energy systems (this includes energy-based topics in pervasive computing, e.g., smart meter data analytics, energy-based activity recognition, etc), get in touch!

Assistant or Associate Professor position (Tenure Track) in human-centric communications and the techno-economics of communication systems
Aalto University Aalto University invites applications for an assistant or associate level professor in all areas related to human-centric communications and the techno-economics of communication ... systems.
Mobile communications technology is entering new markets, offering new capabilities not only to end-users but also to many vertical industries. At the same time, the mobile communications industry itself is going through several disruptions. The technology is becoming cloud-based and the role of hardware is becoming a commodity. There is a societal and industrial need for better understanding of the human and economic implications of these changes.
We are seeking an internationally leading expert to join us. A broad range of topics are considered suitable for this position, including but not restricted to networking business, techno-economics of the Internet, telecom regulation and policy aspects, quality of experience, Internet of Things, context-aware communications, user modeling for communication systems, societal and economic impact of communications, design and engineering of novel communication systems for human use, and human factors in communication systems.
As a tenure-track faculty member, you are expected to complement the expertise of the department by bringing new ideas and perspectives into our community. You are also expected to teach communications engineering and networking technology students, with a typical teaching load of two courses per year.
