Nanny
International Literacy and Development
Needed: Nanny for 3 infants & 2 toddlers of cross-cultural workers

Duration: 3 months to 1+ year, start January 2024

Your Role:
You will help supervise 1-3 infants & 1-2 toddlers so their parents can be engaged among their unreached neighbors. Usually your time with the kids, though never all 5 alone at once, will take place in the home but sometimes will include joining the team at the farm or spending time with neighbors. There is also an expectation to help contribute with regular communal meals. If you have strong interests in cross-cultural interaction, learning foreign languages, and/or gardening you are well suited to join us!

Location: Francophone West Africa
The team lives in a remote village (2-day drive from the capital or 2.5-hour flight on new MAF flights!). Their cement block house has basic running water and solar power for fridge/freezer, washing machine, lights etc. Your Guest House has limited power for lights/charging. There is a missionary hospital 2.5 hrs. away. Their Muslim neighbors live in houses with tin roofs or thatch huts and are mainly subsistence farmers or merchants.

Our Vision:
The husband is establishing a Demonstration Farm with cashews as a cash crop and tropical fruit trees for local nutrition. The wife has served there since 2008, is trained as an Orality Specialist, and generally helps with the newly launched Translation. However, with an infant & active toddler her time is quite limited to devote to the Comprehension Check for which she is uniquely qualified. The team will also be busy welcoming new teammates (3 adults, 1 toddler, 2 infants), whose primary roles will be language and culture learning (as well as setting up 2 new houses).

• Approx. Fundraised Budget = $2,000 one time + $300/month
