Tenured and Tenure-track positions in Systems and HCI
University of Virginia
The Department of Computer Science at UVA is seeking strong candidates for two (and perhaps more!) tenured and tenure-track positions in the following two broad areas of focus.

1. Systems -- Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, networks, compilers, operating systems, database systems, embedded systems, and programming languages.

2. Human Machine Interaction -- Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, human computer interaction, human robot interactions, human factors, computer-supported cooperative work, and ubiquitous computing, with a particular emphasis on security and cyber-physical systems.

Postdoc (memory systems)
Uppsala University
Focus: coordinate information and action between hardware and software to optimize performance and energy efficiency in the memory system.
Approach: expend significant on-chip area for tracking metadata from runtime behavior and static analysis, and use a combination of online and off-line learning to adapt.
Targets: traditional (CPUs), heterogeneous (CPU and GPU), hybrid memory hierarchies (SRAM, DRAM, and NVRAM), or your favorite flavor.

We expect that the successful candidate will tailor the specifics of the direction based on her or his own interests and expertise, but will work with our Tagless caches, Direct-to-Master caches, and Reuse Aware Placement designs. Postdocs take an active role in advising PhD students.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, works well in a diverse group, and is comfortable giving and receiving constructive criticism. We are committed to supporting all types of diversity.

Sweden is an awesome place to live and work (5 weeks paid vacation that people actually take, free health care, ownership of all IP, very cheap child care, extensive parental leave) and Uppsala is a fantastic small city (completely bikeable, 20 min to the airport, has its own castle and IKEA). On top of that, everyone wants to speak English with you.

If you’re interested, please get in touch and I’d love to chat!
Full-time Researcher
AMD Research
A researcher recently graduated with strong background in software and systems to help drive new opportunities in large-scale applications. In this role, you will analyze systems with extremely large memory systems to ramp up performance and drive down power. Contact for more details...
AMD Research - multiple opportunities
AMD
We are looking for great talent for a variety of projects and technologies! We have technical research positions as well as openings for those with managerial/director experience (still technical!).

Up-to-date postings can be found at jobs.amd.com, search for #AMDRESEARCH.

Come talk to me if you have questions! I'll be around for the entirety of the main symposium, and I'll also be chairing Session 1B on Monday (lunch is immediately after the session, so that'd be a great time to talk!).

Senior Research Engineer (Memory & Systems)
Arm Research
We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer to join the Memory and Systems group in Arm Research. You will work with a team of memory system experts and computer architects, and provide support to our product groups and academia. You will influence future products through leading-edge research, and be able to publish results in top-tier conferences.

Our team consists of a mix of people from around the globe, and a wide spread of the compute stack; from a software focus, down to defining the wire protocol of memory interfaces. Our research tackles the crucial challenge of how to feed and interconnect future compute components, such as CPUs, GPUs, application-targeted accelerators (such as those for machine-learning), and memory. We also investigate new memory technologies and their impact on software and hardware; reorganise the memory hierarchy and balance it with compute resources for efficient data transfer, minimised energy, and optimised performance. Connecting compute and data is a challenge across the compute stack from IoT systems, mobile, ML accelerators, all the way to big server and HPC systems.

If you're interested come and talk to us! Wendy Elsasser and Nikos Nikoleris will be around for most of the conference.
