A Junior Professor Chair position entitled "Data-Intensive Systems for Health" is open at Lyon 1 University (France), with a research assignment at LIRIS (UMR CNRS 5205) Laboratory in the DB group and a teaching assignment at the Computer Science Department.
We are looking for candidates holding a PhD in Computer Science with expertise on data management and in particular on (i) large-scale data systems, encompassing data preprocessing, data storage, query processing tasks (ii) Big Data analytics, allowing in-depth analysis of large-scale raw data enriched with Machine Learning techniques. These techniques can be applied to multidisciplinary domains, and, in particular, to medical use cases thus allowing domain experts to obtain insights for patient’s diagnosis and scientific studies. In particular, Lyon 1 University and the healthcare institutions as well as hospitals in Lyon intend to strengthen their scientific collaborations. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in this multidisciplinary environment and to design data-centric applications for healthcare.

Our research focuses on developing computational methods that leverage large-scale behavioral data to extract actionable insights about our lives, health and happiness through combining techniques from data science, social network analysis, and natural language processing. We currently apply these methods to mental health, misinformation online, scientific reproducibility, and informing the COVID-19 response. Examples of potential projects include: Deep learning for graphs, code, and behavioral time series, AI for health and mobile health.
Qualifications
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers with background in computer science and machine learning to join our group in a quest to perform breakthrough research on approaches that advance data science. Data Interoperability Solution Architect and Lead Engineer

We will soon open a job offer for the architect and chief engineer of a large data interoperability project, which is interested in building a prototype distributed architecture for data publication and exchange. This architecture will be based on open Web standards (protocols, formats, vocabularies), in order to ensure the durability and independence of the actors (public and private) participating in these exchanges: the ambition is to propose a technological infrastructure to give back to all the actors the hand on "their" data, and to limit the effects of "natural monopoly" preventing the emergence of French and European competitors in front of the currently dominant actors.
You will design, contribute to and technically supervise this project and its two components: (1) the architecture, models, algorithms and vocabularies, to enable decentralised and distributed storage, publication, access and processing of datasets according to open standards and (2) the production of the open source code of the necessary software integrating as much as possible with other initiatives, and based on open standards and open-source (e.g. W3C, SOLID, Apache, Nginx, etc.).
