In summary: The College of Arts a... nd Sciences at Carlow University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Theology at the rank of assistant professor. This is a nine-month, full-time academic appointment to begin in the Fall 2021. We seek a collaborative scholar-practitioner with an ability to articulate the relevance of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching for students pursuing a wide range of academic and professional interests outside of theology. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate theology courses in the Carlow Compass (Carlow’s general education curriculum), teaching theology electives for all majors, and working on strategic collaborations with Carlow’s Social Justice Institutes and Atkins Center for Ethics in the applicant's areas of expertise. Applicants must have: experience in teaching at the undergraduate level; experience with online course development; and interest in collaborating on interdisciplinary teaching, grants, and research projects with faculty from a range of disciplines. In addition, applicants must be: committed to envisioning the future of liberal arts education in a rapidly changing environment; interested in developing and teaching online and hybrid courses; have experience working with diverse populations; and have a demonstrated ability to engage students in issues of race and equity from a theological perspective.
Requirements: - PhD in Theology (ABD or MA will be considered at instructor level). Area of specialization is open but ability to teach and connect the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching with a professional discipline is required. -Preferred specialization in public theology and racial justice, or related area.
