ASSISTANT TECHNICAL AUTHOR (YEAR IN INDUSTRY)

We are looking for an ambitious Year in Industry student to join the R&D Product Documentation team in our Malvern office for a one-year placement, starting Summer 2021. You’ll join a global team developing engaging, useful content for a range of outputs – user guides, help systems and e‐learning – to help customers get the best from our scientific solutions. We’re looking for a genuine desire to work in a scientific environment and a real aptitude for written communication. We expect a high level of team spirit, meticulous attention to detail, and a keen interest in science.
During the placement you will be part of a team and help with ongoing project work. Alongside the other Year in Industry students, you will also be a STEM Ambassador for the company, lead on STEM activities and represent Malvern Panalytical at STEM events throughout the year.
In addition to honing your written communication skills, the position offers candidates insight into the wider framework of scientific company employment. You will be involved at every stage of the product development process and gain a unique opportunity to contribute to the usability of our products. The skills acquired could potentially facilitate entry to future careers within scientific and technical writing, marketing communications and even product management, helping STEM students to become “scientists for business”.

In this role we are looking for an energetic Application Specialist to provide strong applications-oriented support to our Americas Sales team and customers, both pre-sales in the form of field-based demonstrations, consultancies and applications expertise, post-sales activities such as Customer Trainings, method optimization and application troubleshooting, and Marketing support in terms of presenting at conferences, creating whitepapers and peer-review journal articles related to providing a customer-centric solution to a company’s issues/problems/pain utilizing Malvern Panalytical’s complementary range of products and scientific resources.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
A strong technical aptitude, be commercially savvy and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven customer focused attitude and troubleshooting abilities are a must.
Must be open to a variety of industries and processes to be able to utilize his or her analytical and engineering skills.
Frequent overnight travel is primarily focused for the regions of Mexico and Latin America, and secondarily throughout the US and Canada, is expected.
Must be fluent on English and Spanish, with Portuguese preferred, but not required.
