Our program entails clinical work with diverse client populations in a group practice setting. Trainees will simultaneously manage a psychotherapy caseload while gaining experience with the administrative and business aspects of running a private practice. Training and supervision will be provided on how to continue to grow as a professional, build a caseload, and expand a private practice. One-on-one supervision and group consultation will support the trainee as he/she/they navigate the training program. Satisfactory completion of this postdoctoral training program meets postdoctoral supervised practice requirements for Texas licensure.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Child Trauma
University of Texas Medical Branch
A full-time postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child and adolescent psychology is available at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Located 50 miles south of Houston, UTMB is a large academic health system based out of Galveston Island. This program is funded via a state-level grant designed to advance child mental health initiatives across the state of Texas. As such, the program uses telehealth to cover a large service area that is clinically, socioeconomically, and demographically diverse.

The primary emphasis of this fellowship is child and family traumatic stress. Under supervision of experts in trauma-informed care, fellows will conduct comprehensive assessments, provide evidence-based treatment, and carry out collaborative care in a multidisciplinary environment. Fellows will receive training and supervision in Prolonged Exposure for Adolescents and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. They will also receive didactic training in a variety of areas in clinical child and adolescent psychology. Opportunities to collaborate on education and publication-focused research projects will also be provided.

Strong applicants will have experience with established trauma-focused treatments and a relevant clinical research background. Program Implementation Specialist

This is a federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC).  The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), is a Health Research Institute (HRI) for the  Texas Children’s Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents. The program and projects of the HRI work to address the clinical needs of the programs which address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in Texas for children and adolescents.  

This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a degree in mental health but have not yet completed courses or have clinical experience. It does not require particular training or degree. Part time options are available.

Program Implementation Specialists will implement assigned projects related to the Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM), an evidence and school-based program for adolescents, in which they learn about and explore the topic of mental health through active learning, role-play, and student-led discussions. Facilitators will be an essential leadership role on the team. Their primary roles will be to assist YAM Facilitators in visiting school/community partners in Galveston County, TX to implement a mental health promotion program with middle and high school students and to work with counselors and teachers to ensure student safety and program fidelity.
