Veterinarian

The Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) Division of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a veterinarian to join their team in an AAALACi accredited facility housing ~5,000 nonhuman primates (NHP). Responsibilities include general medical & surgical care of breeding colony & research animals, provision of research support, and training of investigators, laboratory animal medicine residents, veterinary students, and technicians. This is a non-tenured clinical track position. TNPRC’s research program is focused on infectious disease with a concentration on the study of AIDS. Other areas of research involve emerging infectious diseases, gene therapy, biodefense, enteric disease, NHP behavior, and NHP medicine and surgery.

Qualifications: DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine and license to practice veterinary medicine in one of the 50 states. ACLAM board certification/eligibility is preferred. The candidate must have excellent verbal & written communication skills, the ability to interact positively with others with an orientation toward team science, intellectual curiosity, and demonstrated initiative toward continuous improvement.

Clinical Veterinarian

Position Description
The Clinical Veterinarian is a full-time position reporting to the Director of the Department of Comparative Medicine. The incumbent is responsible for medical care of research animals, performing experimental surgical procedures, assisting in the design and monitoring of research projects, training of faculty, staff, and students, and participating in IACUC protocol review and inspections. In addition, the Clinical Veterinarian participates in the Tulane Laboratory Animal Medicine Training Program as a faculty mentor to residents in the program. The incumbent has weekend and holiday on-call clinical duties. The Clinical Veterinarian is highly organized, self-motivated, and able to function in a complex university setting. The incumbent is considered essential personnel and may be required to report to work during the emergency closure of the University.

Simulation Operations Specialist
