From orientation through graduation, the SAARI Director is committed to supporting the UC Davis students of the African diaspora in their academic goals. The director will recognize the unique characteristics of African diaspora students and seek to provide an atmosphere of inclusion and understanding of what it takes to be successful academically. The SAARI Director promotes student connections with faculty and advisors, provides training for students and UC Davis personnel, and facilitates cross campus collaboration to help fulfill the university commitment to student success. The SAARI Director participates on departmental and campus-wide committees as requested; collaborates with campus leaders and functions with a high degree of autonomy; develops and manages budgetary projections for departmental and campus wide programs; evaluates retention data to assist, recommend and implement strategies that will enhance African diaspora student success; act as lead coordinator for the SAARI graduation ceremony.

Job Description: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President,Corporate and Foundation Relations with a dotted line to the Executive Director of the National Institute for Student Success, the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR), National Institute for Student Success, manages an active portfolio of 20-40 organizational donors interested in investing in the NISS’s mission of elevating student success at scale. This individual will solicit, close, and steward gifts to support current and new activities of the NISS with a primary focus on gifts above $100,000 and with donors capable of making $1,00,000+ gifts as a significant portion of the portfolio.

The Senior Director will also work in collaboration with AVP of CFR to ensure an effective fundraising strategy for organizational donors to the university; with leadership of the NISS, including the Executive Director and Senior Directors of Client Service Delivery, Educational Programs & Learning Platforms, and Student Success Analytics to solicit and steward organizational gifts and grants; with Development Directors and faculty to increase their success in the solicitation of corporate and foundation partners, and to help colleagues build portfolios of promising prospects.
