Climate Change Data Ecosystem Consultant: Design and Impact
PARIS21/OECD PARIS21 is looking for an expert consultant to conduct a scoping study on how a “climate change data ecosystem (CCDE)” can be useful to bridge the “data – policy” gaps in managing climate change at national and sub-national level. A specific focus on the role of the national statistical office as one important actor in the data ecosystem from both a policy-making and reporting perspective is envisaged. This work would support the conceptualization of a potential new work stream at PARIS21.
Internship Placement - Statistical Capacity

Ideal Candidate Profile

A strong academic background in development, economics, public policy, social sciences, statistics or a related field is required.
Very good analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to synthesise information and an interest in communicating complex information in ways accessible to various audiences
Fluency (written and spoken) in English and French is required
Ability to work and communicate effectively and in a co-operative spirit in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team

Senior Web Developer
Pacific Community The Pacific Community (SPC) is actively seeking a Senior Web Developer to design, develop, manage and maintain all web platforms managed by the organisations' Statistics for Development Division. This includes significant integration with the Pacific Data Hub, in particular the PDH.stat SDMX-based indicator database. Data Scientist (P3)
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Within assigned authority, the Data Scientist will be responsible for the following duties:

United Nations Statistics Division In close consultation with the Task Force on COVID-19, established by the Inter-Secretariat Working Group on Household Surveys (ISWGHS), UNSD is hiring a consultant to develop a Guidance Note on Assessing and Minimizing the COVID Impact on Survey Quality. The work assignment for the consultant will entail: Activity 1: Prepare an annotated outline for the Guidance Note based on the draft outline in consultation with UNSD staff and members of the ISWGHS Task Force on COVID-19. The annotated outline will be the basis for the contents of the chapters comprising the notes. Activity 2: Develop a work plan including a breakdown of the tasks needed for preparing the Guidance Note and milestones, in consultation with UNSD staff and members of the ISWGHS Task Force on COVID-19. Activity 3: Draft the chapters of the Technical Report in accordance with the annotated outline based on the following information: • Country case studies • Academic literature • Other technical inputs from UNSD staff and members of the ISWGHS Task Force on COVID-19. This initiative will enable the development of a suite of open-source pandemic data analysis tools for global use. Our goal is to develop, test, and scale distributed and privacy-preserving analysis approaches in partnership with funders, governments, and technology firms, with a particular focus on incorporating “health-adjacent” commercial data sets (such as financial transactions or footfall data) in pandemic analysis. The incumbent will join the team in charge of the implementation of applied research, capacity development, action planning and learning projects to support the SDGs and will provide contribute and support activities related to data and statistics for the SDGs with a focus on a) leveraging citizen science data and b) strengthening statistical planning, capacity development and learning.
A Master degree in Statistics or similar area is required.
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with official statistics (National Statistical Office or System or International Organization Statistics Department), including some experience with citizen science data and with other new data sources/machine learning. Project management and partnerships experience is an added advantage.
Languages Fluency in oral and written English and Spanish is required.
Contract duration: 5 months on a full-time basis, possibility of extension.
