Montessori Assistant Teacher
Toddlers on The Hill (ToTH) Montessori ToTH Montessori, a private, authentic Montessori program for children ages 15 months to 6 years old, is looking for a full-time assistant teacher who will provide support for our ... toddler and preschool programs. ToTH Montessori is located in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, DC. Daily Schedule: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30pm with 1 hour break. This position is eligible for DC early childhood educator pay equity funding (dependent on educational credential verification.) Taking direction from the trained lead teacher, the assistant teacher will: Assist with student arrivals and daily preparations; perform duties in the classroom at the direction of lead guides, including “up” and “down” roles working with children, snack preparation, cleaning, restoring works and materials, supervising children on the playground, assisting children with arrival routines and transitions between activities, diapering and assisting children with toilet learning and handwashing; helping toddlers go down for nap time, supervision of naptime, and preparations for afternoon activities. The ideal candidate must have an interest in learning the daily routines in a Montessori environment, have a team-oriented approach to working in a classroom, and be open to learning and practicing the Montessori approach to working with young children.

ToTH’s 5th St SE campus is located at the Arthur Capper Recreation Center and in the Spring of 2025 we will open a second location in Navy Yard on Potomac Ave. SE with classrooms for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We will be hiring for a variety of teaching and childcare positions at both locations. Daily Schedule: Full time and Part time schedules available. Full time shift: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30pm with 1 hour break. ToTH has 206 days in session and nearly 10 weeks of breaks each calendar year. We are looking for someone who is organized, reliable, efficient and adaptable. The successful floater/ teaching assistant will have a “can-do” attitude while effectively managing multiple tasks. A friendly demeanor and the ability to foster positive, professional relationships with team members, parents, and children are essential for this role.
