Special Events Assistant
Municipality of Port Hope
The Special Events Assistant will play an active role in supporting the planning, delivery, facilitation and supervision of special events and programs within the Municipality of Port Hope.
Full Time. Contract (12 months).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.1 Undertaking support responsibilities related to the oversight and administrative support of community and municipal events in Port Hope.
1.2 Working directly with community event organizers and municipal staff; conducting meetings, site visits, email, and phone correspondence.
1.3 Participate in and assist with program planning and on-site support; includes research and development, implementation, and supervision.
1.4 Perform administrative tasks including updating of files, maintenance of email lists, databases, inventory.
1.5 Assist with the development and execution of event applications, emergency plans, site plans, production schedules, and other logistical planning tools.
1.6 Assist with the development and execution of sponsorship proposals, promotion plans and social media campaigns.
1.7 Assist with the management of facility needs, setup and takedown of tables, chairs and equipment for programs and events.
1.8 Utilize computer skills to create marketing materials, organize digital files, collect and analyze data in consultation with various staff and departments.
1.9 Apply creative thinking and industry research to make suggestions for improvements to events, systems, and communication methods.
1.10 Interact in a positive, professional, courteous, and respectful manner in all meetings, and communications, recognizing the varied viewpoints of stakeholders.
1.11 Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and demonstrate understanding that their personal actions impact the public’s perception of the Municipality.
1.12 Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Events Coordinator or designate.

Arts & Culture Coordinator
City of Brantford
Reporting to the Manager of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Arts & Culture Coordinator is responsible for developing and supporting the City of Brantford’s cultural tourism portfolio to ensure that Brantford is nurturing creative industry capacity building and growth. This position is responsible for working across Departments to implement municipal policies and procedures related to culture, including the Museum Sustainability Plan; assessing cultural industry development issues and trends and leading cultural projects; implementing the Public Art Policy and Public Art Program (including acquisitions and maintenance); and facilitating and/or initiating strategic partnerships that advance the development of the cultural sector in Brantford.

The Arts & Culture Coordinator is also responsible leading product development and cultural tourism marketing, including assisting with marketing the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts as a premier cultural attraction.

$31.08 to $38.85 per hour, 35 hours per week + benefits and pension (OMERS).

Leisure Tourism & Information Coordinator
City of Brantford
Reporting to the Manager of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Leisure Tourism & Information Coordinator is responsible for leading the City of Brantford’s visitor services program, physically located at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, including leading the motor coach welcome program, tours of the Brantford & Area Sports Hall of Recognition, the ordering and sales of merchandise and providing exceptional customer service and accurate information to visitors in person, over the phone and online.

The Leisure Tourism & Information Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating the leisure tourism (paddling, cycling and trails) portfolio to ensure that Brantford successfully attracts visitors to the Grand River, trail system, cycling infrastructure and complementary tourism-oriented businesses, with the goal of extending overnight stays. This position is responsible for developing and implementing leisure tourism initiatives, including product development and partnership opportunities, including being the key liaison with industry partners such as area outfitters and Ontario by Bike.

The hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday, 9am-5pm with additional weekend and/or evening shifts required. This position is physically located at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre (254 North Park St., Brantford).

$31.08 to $38.85 per hour, 35 hours per week + benefits + pension (OMERS).

Tourism Marketing & Services Assistant
City of Brantford
Reporting to the Manager of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Tourism Marketing & Services Assistant is responsible for supporting the Tourism Division’s marketing and visitor services initiatives. This position is responsible for providing travel and tourism information to the general public whether in-person, operating at the Tourism Information Desk at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, or online using a wide range of media platforms.

This position is responsible for maintaining the merchandise inventory, processing sales, providing timely information to visitors and responding to inquiries by phone, email or social media. The position directly supports the visitor services portfolio by providing backup frontline coverage and delivering visitor services programs (welcome bags, motor coach program, merchandise and inventory, etc.), and will be required to work regular weekend shifts to align with tournament schedules at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. The position will also provide marketing assistance, fulfilling duties such as website updates, social media scheduling, blog writing, e-newsletter development and ad sales.

Preference will be given to those candidates with marketing experience.

$18.06 to $22.57 per hour, 24 hours per week.
