Camp Counselor
Falling Creek Camp
Being a summer camp counselor is one of the most rewarding, challenging and enjoyable jobs you will ever have. If you want to make a difference in the lives of children while building life skills, there’s no better place to spend your summer than Falling Creek Camp. As a counselor, you will be responsible for facilitating the residential experience for a cabin of (typically) eight boys. You will work in activity areas during the day; we have around 30 activities to choose from. If you are interested in working in our adventure program, we also have opportunities for teaching paddling, rock climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking. The listed pay is the base rate; we provide ample bonuses for certifications, completion of orientation and the entirety of the contract, and education.

At Falling Creek, we recruit as wide a variety of personalities as possible. With as many campers as we have, our boys resonate uniquely with counselors, whatever identity they bring to the mountain. That being said, there are certain qualities that are more conducive to success over the course of the entire season. Chief amongst these are perhaps flexibility and work ethic. It is hard to predict the exact course of a day, but our staff should be engaged and creative enough to roll with whatever challenge might come their way. We also like people who are team players. Unselfishness is what we call “the spirit of Falling Creek”, and one must be able to prioritize the needs of our community over themselves.

Our base pay for the season is $3200, we also provide ample bonuses for education, certifications, and completion of the training and entirety of the contract.

Outdoor Adventure Writers
Adventure Nerds
Hi fellow adventurers! We are excited to introduce Adventure Nerds, a publisher of hyper-specific guidebooks for multi-day adventures. We are part of the Waypoint Accelerator program in Asheville, NC, and we are preparing to hire our first group of outdoor writers and adventurers to create guidebooks!

Our goal is to make adventures more accessible by building a community, marketplace, and library of adventure resources. We are interested in connecting with passionate outdoor enthusiasts who have experience planning and leading multi-day outdoor adventures. If you enjoy writing, taking photographs, and researching and going on adventures, this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

We encourage all people of all backgrounds to apply. You don’t have to be an outdoor expert, but you must have extensive knowledge of your proposed adventure and enjoy writing and immersing yourself in the details of an adventure.

This is a paid opportunity. Unlike most freelance assignments for magazines or online media, we pay per assignment, and you also become a published author of a book and earn royalties from book sales. We are excited to support the outdoor community and expand access to adventure knowledge for all.

If this sounds interesting to you, let’s talk! You can find Nate in the vendor hall, or fill out the author application online. Thanks!
