Eat Greater Des Moines (EGDM) is a central Iowa-based non-profit organization that facilitates and builds connections to strengthen the area’s food system. Our mission is to unite the community by providing quality food access for all. We build community through food. By bringing people to the table, we empower partners in our community to connect, support one another, and move ideas into action through information sharing, building relationships, and providing education on the most urgent issues related to food in our community.
The Value Chain Coordinators (VCC) will be employed by EGDM as part of the Statewide Regional Value Chain Coordination for a Stronger Iowa Food System project funded through a federal USDA Regional Food System Partnerships Program grant.
The VCC works to strengthen connections across food systems and leads value chain efforts in their region, focusing on areas of the state: SE Iowa, NW Iowa, and Central Iowa. VCC’s act as relationship builders, researchers, and innovators in their region of the state.
This opportunity is for someone who is:

They will organize community workshops and events that support local food procurement strategies. They will build and maintain relationships with schools, community groups, farmers, and others. They will be committed to getting results, by creating opportunities for food security, local food access, rural groceries, and Farm to School programs.
