Summary
The Biology Department is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, and technically skilled researcher with knowledge in the field of immunology or immuno-oncology who wishes to play a key role in advancing novel drug candidates from discovery into the clinic. Scientists at Arcus work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues across the organization.

Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to provide in-depth knowledge, technical expertise, and insights as it relates to Arcus drug development programs. These qualities will be utilized routinely to devise and implement a variety of relevant in vivo and in vitro model systems. These models will be used to build an in-depth understanding and biological datasets surrounding Arcus drug targets and drug candidates. Scientists will contribute both intellectually and experimentally as part of a multidisciplinary team, routinely collating and presenting data in both internal and external forums.

Qualifications
-PhD in Biology, Immunology, Immuno-Oncology, or a closely related field (postdoctoral training is a plus)
-Intellectual and experimental proficiency in various aspects of immunology or immuno-oncology gained through demonstrated research experience. Ideally this proficiency would include:
-Practical experience using in vivo models of cancer, inflammation, or autoimmunity
-Isolation and culture of primary immune cells from blood or tissue
-Expertise related to common immunological assays, including multi-color flow cytometry, and implementation of methods to assess immune cell activity (flow cytometry panel design is a plus)
-Competency in molecular biology techniques, such as ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, real-time PCR & western blot
-Ability to design, conduct, and interpret results from critical experiments that identify novel target biology and advance drug discovery efforts

Eagleton Science Fellow

Eagleton Science and Politics Fellowship places PhD-level scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals as full-time in-house science advisors into New Jersey State government for one year.
Science Fellows bring their advanced technical skills to service in state government and support New Jersey state government officials in making evidence-based decisions in public policy areas involving clean energy, education, innovation, environment, health and mental health, and many others.
Through this work, they develop an understanding of state government and learn how to build careers in public service.
The program begins with an intensive summer training seminar focused on New Jersey state politics and government, covering topics such as effective communication strategies, power structures, and political processes. Throughout the year, Science Fellows participate in professional development and networking sessions organized by the Institute.
The Fellowship is supported by a $60,000 stipend, health benefits, a $1,500 travel fund, and professional development events.
A PhD or equivalent level doctoral degree in natural sciences, engineering, or healthcare is required by July 2024.
