Junior Simulation Data Scientist
Gousto
Job Description
Junior Simulation Scientist

At Gousto, our data teams are central to our ability to deliver an amazing customer experience. We do this by delivering change through cross functional squads grouped into three tribes, each focussed on a different part of the customer journey. Our level 1-3 data scientists are each embedded in a squad, working alongside product management, software engineering, and other teams.

You will be part of our Unbox tribe which focuses on our factory operations. You will work as part of the Capers squad to build simulation models of our factories and supply chain network. These models are critical for testing proposed changes to our operations including new versions of our data science optimisation models. The squad is a relatively new addition to the tribe: we already have some simulation models in use but there is plenty of scope to shape this area for the future.

As this is a small team, you will need to be comfortable working in relative autonomy, working on your own tasks under the guidance of experienced colleagues. You will interact with the wider operations and data teams to understand where the biggest challenges are in the factories in order to help inform the team’s priorities.

We are only at the beginning of our work on simulation, but we have the ambition to build one of the most advanced simulation capabilities in the world, mixing simulation, machine learning, reinforcement learning, to allow our entire company to innovate at scale. We are therefore looking for a highly motivated individual who shares our vision and is passionate to deliver on behalf of our customers. The ideal candidate will have experience with simulation models and be excited about the prospect of working on industrial problems, but most of all have an innate drive to innovate.
