The Gender Diversity and Resilience Program Clinician is a talented clinical social worker or psychotherapist with a passion for and commitment to working with transgender and gender diverse youth and their parent and/or caregivers. This gender-affirming clinician demonstrates an understanding of overall child development with demonstrated knowledge in identity development in relation to gender and sexual orientation. Furthermore, this clinician has the expertise and flexibility to provide therapeutic interventions based on the needs of each child and family with the ability to support clients who present with higher risk, including nonsuicidal self-injury and suicidality. An unlicensed clinician (“Clinician I”) works under the close supervision of a licensed clinician; a licensed clinician (“Clinician II”) provides clinical services with a greater degree of independent functioning and may supervise trainees, but continues to receive the benefit of clinical supervision to promote continued professional development, support and quality clinical services. A licensed clinician with the requisite experience (“Clinician III”) also supervises other clinicians.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Services Director, provide the appropriate level of behavioral health and substance use disorder services for clients of APLA Health & Wellness. Staff will provide services identified through a biopsychosocial assessment and promote health and wellness through services, advocacy and education with a focus on the needs of low-income LGBT adults including but not limited to people living with HIV/AIDS. Position will also provide community behavioral health services to other clients seeking services at APLA Health & Wellness. In addition staff will be tasked with providing education and consultation to primary care and behavioral health providers on areas of addiction treatment, and seeking to enhance our integrated care model.
