Summer Camp Youth Mentor

The Summer Camp Youth Mentor is responsible for the daily supervision of 10-19 camp participants grades K-8. They assist in planning, development, ensuring a safe environment, enrichment, of our campers and program. Youth Mentors will use a variety of resources provided by the Summer Camp Site Director/Program Coordinator, to introduce new skills through the execution of activities. Youth Mentors are required to participate in ongoing professional development and planning sessions with the Summer Camp Site Director/Program Coordinator on a scheduled basis.

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Family Services Director is responsible for the administration of Family Services programs including Afterschool, Teens, and assist with Day Camp. This position is also responsible for research, development and implementation of additional programs and services to serve the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Development & Management:
• Management of Licensed Before/Afterschool, Teen Programs and assist with Camp including planning for growth of program areas.
• Research, development and implementation of additional family services programs and services.
• Overall responsibility for producing quality program experiences and day-to-day management of assigned program areas, associated staff (full-time and part-time) and branch transportation program.
• Development of departmental budgets including revenue generation and expenditure management.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff for assigned program areas.
• Run all program areas in accordance with YMCA Quality Standards. Ensure that program standards and quality guidelines are met or exceeded.
• Market & promote all programs and community-based events with emphasis on program quality and growth.
• Ensure Afterschool and Day Camp programs consistently meet NC Childcare Licensing Requirements and Association Quality Standards.
• Ensure that all requirements, certifications, policies and procedures required for licensing are met and followed.
• Meet all program enrollment goals including timely collection process of all fees.
• Support and participate in all aspects of the Member Connection Plan as well as the Association’s strategic goals.
• Maintain adequate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas of responsibility.
• Uphold current facility maintenance standards in all major areas of responsibility.

Nature and Scope:
​Under the direction of the Senior Program Director and Teen Program Director, the Teen Programs Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Northwest YMCA’s Teen programs and Group Mentoring Program for the successful achievement of revenue and participant number goals, and supporting the branch’s membership and member retention goals.
​The Northwest Family YMCA is located in Kennesaw, Georgia. This facility was established in 1999 and serves the Kennesaw/Acworth/Dallas/Marietta communities.

​Minimum Requirements:
​Must have HS diploma or equivalent. Preferred Bachelor's Degree in related field.
​Must have experience in work related to recreation, education and/or general programming, either paid or volunteer for a minimum of two (2) years.
