The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for the entry, processing, maintenance and reporting of corporate payroll information to compensate employees and facilitate responsible decision-making by all of the District’s stakeholders. The student will interact with contractors, engineers, and OPPD’s T&D construction center’s for the purpose of constructing new residential developments and overhead line rebuilds, and for the maintenance of distribution systems by coordinating underground cable replacements and pole replacements in accordance with our GLIT program. Experience will also be gained in the area of coordinating and communicating contractor work schedules, ensuring contract compliance, assisting supply chain with the development of new construction contracts, and developing performance measures and tracking productivity. Student will split time working in an office environment, attending meetings, and traveling throughout OPPD’s 13 county territory to coordinate contractor work activities.

As part of the Transmission Engineering Department, the co-op will have the opportunity to complete assignments with hands-on and in-depth experiences in the civil engineering aspects of electric utility transmission line design.

The co-op will be exposed to engineering design, 3-D modeling, finite element analysis, drafting, material procurement, contract preparation, construction, and other aspects of transmission line project execution and project close-out. The individual will gain understanding of line designs including both wood and steel poles, concrete pier and direct embedded foundations, and varying wire types for all District transmission voltages up to 345kV. Specific activities may include preparation of engineering drawings and documents, application of transmission line design software, review of clearance conflicts from survey data, review of land rights conflicts from easement data, preparing miscellaneous reports, witness construction activities and other related duties as assigned by the manager or engineers.
