2019 National Minority Veterans Summit- "We Are One"

The inaugural 2019 National Minority Veterans Summit, hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)- Center for Minority Veterans, will focus on the needs and issues imperative to minority Veterans.

Summit Objectives:   

  • To provide minority Veterans and the local/state/Federal/NGO partners who serve them, with information about VA benefits and services
  • To engage in transparent dialogue about issues impacting minority Veterans
  • To share minority-focused research and innovations
  • To receive feedback from minority Veterans and connect with community partners
  • To identify unique issues and concerns of minority Veterans that impact their Veteran experience

Summit Target Audiences:

  • Minority Veterans
  • Caregivers
  • Survivors
  • Public sector partners including military, federal, state, and local agencies
  • Veteran Service Organizations and other nonprofit partners
  • Academics and others in the research community
  • Representatives from the tech industry and corporations
  • Other community partners
  • VA employees

There will be a pre-summit one-day training event for VA's Minority Veteran Program Coordinators, followed by the two-day summit to consist of lectures, discussion panels, an exhibit hall, and an open forum

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Veterans Affairs' senior leaders, interact with state and local officials, participate in breakout sessions focused on employment, mental health, entrepreneurship and much more

Veterans Benefits Administration will be offering an in-person claims clinic during this event.

     What to expect:

  • Speak with a VA representative
  • Get answers to VA claim and benefits questions
  • Review and explanation of decision rating letters
  • File new claim
  • Get same-day decision; unless a medical examination is required – then exam will be scheduled for attendee.

 What to bring:

  • Please bring all supporting medical evidence and documentation to assist in providing a claim decision and/or VA services.


Plenary sessions will focus on VA benefits & services, healthcare, memorial services, collaboration opportunities, interacting with partner organizations, and special "Voice of the Veteran" panels

We respectfully request that you please do not book a reservation at any other hotel so we may honor the contracted room block with this hotel. Cut Off Date

It is imperative that reservations are made no later than Fri., August 23rd by 5pm Central Time to receive the Government per diem rate.  Reservations made after the cut-off date are not guaranteed the special group rate. You must provide your Government I.D. Badge to receive the Government per diem rate.
