Bio: Ken is a Physical Scientist in the EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, where he’s worked since 1998. His primary responsibilities are the development and review of drinking water regulations. He has worked on a wide range of topics, including drinking water distribution systems, the Revised Total Coliform Rule, EPA’s review of existing regulations, and the consideration of water governance in developing countries. He is also currently serving on a National Sanitation Foundation, International Committee for the Prevention of Injury and Disease Associated with Building Water Systems.

Bio: Mark is the general manager of American Backflow Products Company, a national distributor of backflow assembly repair parts, testing equipment and accessories. It is also an industry leader in backflow repair information and technical assistance. American Backflow Products Is based in Tallahassee, Florida.
He received his testing certificate from the University of Florida TREEO Center in 1988 at the age of 18. He also received a certificate for Backflow Repair and Maintenance from the TREEO Center in 1990.
Mark is currently a co-author of the “Repair Guys” article found each month in Backflow Prevention and Plumbing Standards.
He is also a member of the ABPA, USC, PHCC, AWWA, IAPMO, ASSE and the American Fire Sprinkler Association.
In 2007 Mark received a certificate as an Advanced Backflow Assembly Tester from the University of Florida TREEO Center.

Bio: 45 year career in Backflow Prevention Products Sales, including manufacturers’ representative, regional, national and vice president sales management. Pete has also been responsible for sales growth for many, primarily specification, Plumbing / Mechanical / Waterworks / Fire Protection / Irrigation products.
Pete is currently General Manager / National Sales Manager, Apollo Valve Backflow Prevention Products / Conbraco Industries with responsibilities for the Backflow Prevention Products Group sales growth, new product development, production forecasts and marketing and strategic planning
Pete started with Apollo Valves on February 2, 2006 and am retiring from full time work February 15, 2017. I will be working for Apollo on a part time consulting basis going forward.
Pete graduated College from Portland State University, Portland, Oregon. Pete is a member of American Backflow Prevention Association; a member and past vice president of the Backflow Prevention Manufacturers Association; a member of and was awarded as Man of the Year by the American Society of Sanitary Engineers; a past member of the American Water Works Association Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention M-14 Committees.
Pete currently resides and works from home in Brunswick Forest, close to Wilmington, North Carolina. He is married with 2 sons, one daughter, and 5 grandkids.

Tom has supported IT systems for over 25 years and then moved to the water department to help initiate a paperless CC program for the City of Wyoming. Tom has been involved in the Cross Connection field for over 13 years, working together with other local inspectors. Tom is currently on the Michigan Annual Cross Connection Conference committee and has given numerous presentations relating to the CC field.

Bio: Paul received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He has been the Chief Engineer of the U.S.C. Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research since 1977, with responsibilities to oversee the Laboratory and Field Evaluation Program; instruct at the Foundation’s training courses; and coordinate the update of the Foundation’s Manual of Cross-Connection Control.
Paul also maintains a Professional Engineer’s License in the State of California.

Bio: Gerald T. Buhr, is a licensed attorney, also certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in city, county and local government law. Prior to law, Jerry began working as an operator in the water & wastewater industry in 1973, and has since then earned double “A” licenses, and has been a chief operator, manager, executive, owner and legal counsel for Florida utilities.
He is currently the City Attorney for the cities of Avon Park, Zolfo Springs, Bowling Green, and San Antonio, Florida and represents other cities in the area of utilities, as well as private and nonprofit utilities. For 24 years Jerry has written the “Legal Briefs” column for the Florida Water Resources Journal, is listed as an “AV” “Preeminent Attorney” by the Martindale Hubbell attorney rating organization, and listed as one of the “Tampa Bay Top Lawyers” by Tampa Bay Magazine.

Bio: Jim is with BAVCO, a wholesale distributor of backflow assembly repair parts.
Jim holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from CA State University at Long Beach in Management and Finance.
Jim has been a licensed backflow assembly tester and plumber for the last 33 years.
Jim spent the first 10 years of his career working as a backflow assembly tester and repair technician. His duties required the annual testing and maintenance of over 3000 assemblies.
The last 24 years he has served as Manager of BAVCO. In his duties he has provided training and education in the development, implementation and running of Cross Connection Control Programs across the United States.
Jim sits on many Committees for many organizations including:

American Water Works Association – AWWA
Irrigation Association – IA
Rural Water Association – NRWA
And many regional Cross Connection Control groups around the country.
Bio: Scott Causseaux
Retired after 32 yrs of service with the City of Altamonte Springs, started as a water plant operator trainee, then obtained class C water license.
Introduced to Cross Connection Control & Backflow prevention in 1987. In the early 90’s became the Cross Connection Control Supervisor for the City of Altamonte until 2009 and then finished his career as the Utility Plant Operations & Maintenance Manager for the City of Altamonte Springs.
Holds a level 1 Water Dist. License and has been an Instructor for the TREEO Center for 25 + years, and for the past year worked for Instrument Specialties Inc. as a Sr. Service Technician.
