Whova has been shortlisted for a record-setting 7 different awards at the Event Technology Awards 2020!

Whova has won Event Technology Awards for the past 4 consecutive years, and we’re thrilled to have been shortlisted again for the fifth time!

Not too long ago, the future of the events world seemed uncertain, and we’ve been working hard to make the transition to virtual events as simple and successful as possible, both through our software and support team, as well as our weekly webinars and our Event Organizer Community intended to bring organizers everywhere the support they need.

Of course, this is only possible because of all the people have supported us over the years, from the customers who have worked with us to organize over 1500 virtual events since the pandemic began, to the Whova users who have taken advantage of its functions to create interactive, successful events. We’re so happy to see the positive effect Whova has had on the events community during this transition to virtual events!

What is ETA 2020?

The Event Technology Awards (ETA), often called the “Oscars of Event Technology,” is event tech’s largest and most prestigious awards show. They look at the latest in events technology from around the world and recognize the very best.  Whova has been honored to be shortlisted again this year, after also being recognized this year by G2 as the sole events software featured on their list of top 100 software companies.

This year, Whova has been shortlisted for:

  • Best pivot from physical to virtual
  • Best hybrid event or live streaming solution
  • Best use of technology for engagement and interaction
  • Best use of technology for audience participation
  • Best event networking technology
  • Best conference technology
  • Best event app

Whova is also participating in the People’s Choice Award, the shortlist for which will be announced in October, and will then be voted on by the public. We’ll give you more details on how to vote as soon as we know more!

How Whova’s Latest Technology Seamlessly Brings Events Online

We know how important it is that your event is both interactive and engaging, which is why we’ve designed our software to specifically bring those benefits to virtual events!

1. Session Streaming and Videos are Easily Accessible Through the Agenda Items

In a virtual event, sessions can be held both pre-recorded and live, and Whova allows you to support both. Whova supports a majority of the mainstream streaming services. All you have to do is to include a livestream link for a live session or a video link for a pre-recorded session.

Whova also allows you to take advantage of some of the benefits of virtual events by uploading a recording of the livestream after the session, helping attendees to go back and rewatch.

2. Virtual Event is NOT an 8-hour Webinar! Whova is Specifically Designed to Promote Engagement

Attendees don’t want to just stare at a screen all day, so we’ve implemented features to ensure that they’re able to get the same interactive experience they might have had in-person.  Each session, whether it’s pre-recorded or live, has a Q&A function for attendees to submit questions, as well as an ongoing chat sidebar where they can continue these conversations.

Whova’s Community Board also allows for broader community interaction. Attendees, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors, can create topics through the event forum and take part in discussions with other participants. You can even add an extra incentive to engage with the event with our variety of gamification options, where attendees can compete for a prize of your choice.

3. More Chances to Network Than Ever

While networking remotely may seem difficult, Whova makes it very possible. Attendees can find group opportunities to socialize through virtual meetups held through video chat. These meetups can be as general or as specific as you want, and attendees can even take the prerogative to organize some themselves!

Attendees can also create their own profiles within Whova and use attendee matchmaking to find individual interesting attendees and reach out with in-app private messaging, group chats, and video calls. This can all be set up weeks before the event, meaning attendees can get more opportunities to network than they would have from an in-person event!

4. Interactive, Visually Appealing Virtual Booths for Sponsors and Exhibitors to Maximize their ROI

Convincing sponsors and exhibitors to take part also becomes easy with Whova’s Sponsor Center and Virtual Exhibitor Hall. Sponsors and exhibitors alike are outfitted with customizable virtual booths that can feature livestreamed demonstrations, a company showcase, an interactive chat function, and much more to engage with attendees individually. Sponsors can also get added benefits, such as customized banners featured throughout your event that will further increase their brand awareness among attendees.

5. Easy to Set Up Virtual Career Fair

Whether the career fair is just a portion of your conference or the main event, Whova can help out. Company recruiters can access company booths that, in addition to livestreams, company overviews, photos, documents, chat, and more, will feature all job postings and complete applications. These customizable booths also save organizers time; instead of having to go back and forth making sure everything is just right, they can allow the companies to set everything up just the way they like it.

On the attendee side, applicants can move further in the process than ever. Job seekers can put their best foot forward with sleek customizable profiles and opportunities to interact with employers. Furthermore, they can also apply for interesting jobs completely within the virtual booth, which allows them to submit a resume, cover letter, letters of recommendation, and the answers to any questions companies might have a big step beyond just handing out resumes!
